Principal's Message
Dear Families,
What a lovely morning we had with our Mother’s Day breakfast. It was great to see so many of our mums enjoying breakfast in preparation for our celebration of Mother’s Day. I would also like to personally thank all our mums, you do a fantastic job raising your children, this is often a thankless task. Thank you. Also, a big thank you to our teachers and staff who helped prepare for our Mother’s Day Breakfast, you all did a fantastic job!
We had a slight technical issue on Friday at our Mother’s Day Breakfast, so we would like to invite all our mums who are available to attend our Prayer Assembly in the Piazza at 8:50am to share in our Mother’s Day prayer.
Last week I was talking about our school rules and this week I would like to explore our second rule, Be Responsible, “Never see a need without doing something about it.” I want to start by sharing a short story; on Monday afternoon, amidst the wild storm that had blown in right on home time, I noticed a couple of students blocking the narrow pathway that leads up to Abbott Street. Upon closer observation I noticed it was a Prep student with 2 Grade 6 girls. I was about to give them a hurry up, when I realised that our Grade 6 girls had stopped to help this little boy put on his jumper as it was raining, and the wind had a real bite in it. Stories like these often fill our day as the staff and I are blessed to witness these God Moments often here.
Being Responsible is more than helping others, there is also a level of personal and group responsibility. We teach our children that they are responsible for their actions, and every action leads to consequences, either positive or negative.
The hardest level of responsibility I believe is group or shared responsibility, it is where we take care of items that belong to everyone. The sharing of classroom equipment, keeping our playground clean and returning of sports equipment to the sports room are all examples of group or shared responsibility. This level of responsibility is also what we need to be good citizens and will greatly support our society when tackling global issues like climate change and poverty. For more information on our school PBS procedures visit our website.
In regard to our uniform, we are still currently in the transition phase from our old uniform to our new uniform. It is still ok for children to wear the old school uniform; we do not expect any family to be burdened financially by purchasing new uniforms when their current uniforms are still in good condition.
A reminder that Kinder expression of interest close at the end of May. Please let anyone who has Kinder aged children know as we only have limited spaces.
Kind Regards,
Shayne Kidd
