Principal's Message

Dear Families,

What a wonderful two days I have just had with our Grade 6’s on their camp at Myrtle Park. The camp challenges our students to step out of their comfort zones, to challenge themselves, work as a team member and leader, and to reflect on how they can be the best person they strive to be. Wednesday commenced with the students setting up their own tents, then it was off to the river where students built rafts and attempted to float down the St Patrick’s River. I am pleased to say that this year every team made the length of the course, although some rafts needed adult-assisted running repairs.

Wednesday night we had a visit from Danny Gardner, who shared with us Dreaming stories, and students had the opportunity to play the Didgeridoo and clap sticks. Danny also shared cultural knowledge on the Ben Lomond area, the importance of the circle of lifehow local Aboriginals used the bush to make all the items they needed.

On Thursday the challenging high ropes course became more difficult as we navigated swaying trees and drenching rain. I am proud to say that every student completed at least one course and the encouragement the students showed towards their peers was commendable.

Last Tuesday we celebrated our beginning of Year Mass and Blessing of our New Captains. We had to celebrate Mass in the hall and it was a lovely celebration; our students’ participation in Mass was excellent.

Last week I shared with you a link to Parent TV, which has become available to us this year. This week we look at how we can structure the use of technology to ensure our children are protected without denying them access to content relevant to them. How to put safety fences around technology use.

Have a wonderful week.

God Bless,

Shayne Kidd
