It is not enough that we wait patiently. We are expected to be industrious as we await the advent of the reign of God. We have all been entrusted with talents that really belong to God, and we must use these talents to the best of our ability in the interim between the Lord’s departure and his final return. The ideal wisdom figure in the first reading is a model of such industriousness.
Fidelity to the reign of God requires that we be willing to take risks. We do not know the time of the Lord’s coming, and so there will have to be a kind of tentativeness to all of our plans. We will never be able to be certain that they will be brought to fruition. We must spend and be spent without the assurance that we will be able to reap the rewards of our investment. To refuse to risk is to refuse to trust.
If we have been wise and have industriously employed the Lord’s talents, which were entrusted to us, we will be richly rewarded. However, if we have not realised the potential that is possessed by our talents, and if we have not employed them as they were meant to be employed, we will be punished. The foolish man in the gospel knew that the householder was exacting. He had some idea of what to expect. He made his choice and he had to accept the consequences of that choice.

Dear Families,
What an exciting weekend of Basketball we had last weekend with our G3/4 Teams. Our boys Div 2 teams nearly ended up with a fairy tale finish of both playing in the Grand Final. Unfortunately, STM Cameron were just beaten by a few points in the Semi Final, leaving STM Tasker to play St Finn Barrs in the Grand Final. It was a close game, the boys played hard, however they were just beaten by a few points. Our girls’ teams were exceptional with STM Adams making it to the Semi Final. All our teams showed great sportsmanship on the weekend and were a real credit to our school. I am looking forward to next year’s competition. A big thank you to our coaches and managers and parent supporters, without your help we couldn’t participate in a weekend like this.
Last night was our Board’s AGM. I wish to congratulate Paul Mannion on his appointment as Board Chair, Melinda Limbrick as Deputy Chair, and Kirsty Pedder as Treasurer. We also farewell three long-serving members, Kim McInnes, Greg Harper and Sarah Herd. I would like to thank all three for their support and dedication to the school, and particularly Kim for her time as Board Chair and Greg as Treasurer. Thank you, we will miss you.
Today I enjoyed some time with our G5/6 at their Gala Day. It was great that they finally had a Gala Day that wasn’t dampened by rain.
We will be setting up tickets for our End of Year Concert. Ticket booking details will be sent next week. Due to Covid restrictions we have a limit of 2 adults per family. Younger siblings may attend. You can place your name at our office for additional tickets should they become available. I thank you for your understanding.
Our MJR focus for November is “Okay with a Smile.” I hope your children are remembering to respond with an “ok” and smile to requests to help you out. If you have any stories, I’d love to hear them.
God Bless,
Shayne Kidd
