We live in hope because we have been blessed with the opportunity of participating in the exaltation of Jesus. This hope is based on promises: the promise that we will not be left orphaned when Jesus returns to his Father; the promise that we will be comforted by the Spirit whom Jesus will send. It is trust in God that enables us to live in this world as if the promises have already been fulfilled, for in fact, it is precisely such living that fulfils them.
We have not celebrated the Ascension, and yet all three readings speak of the Spirit. The same Spirit, who quickened the resurrected life of Jesus, enlivens us. This Spirit strengthens, comforts, guides and inspires us. Life in the Spirit requires that we conform our lives to the commandments of God, not in a legalistic or constraining way but out of love. The love that comes to us through the Spirit will then overflow into the lives of others, and we will be agents of God’s love in the world.
The Spirit given by Christ is mediated through the laying on of hands. This still happens in our day in the gentle touch of friends, in the loving touch of parents, in the healing touch of those who cure both the body and the spirit. The liturgical year is preparing us for the Ascension of Jesus into heaven, and Jesus is preparing us for life in the Spirit here on earth. This is the reason for our hope.

We are reviewing our after school pick up routine in an effort to ensure that parents are able to practice social distancing whilst waiting to pick up their child/ren. We are proposing to have pickup time slots where parents nominate the timeslot they will pick up their child/ren. The aim is to spread out the number of people attempting to collect children at any one time. There will be a staff member present for all the pickup time slots. Kinder parents with only Kinder children need not complete the survey as there will be further information next week about pick up.
Please take the time to nominate your preferred time slot. Survey closes Tuesday 19th May 3.00pm
The yr 5/6 students have been learning about poetry. They have written their own pieces of work and presented them in a digital format.
As part of our Learning @ Home framework, we have utilised the Zoom platform. Students and staff, whether they have been on-site or at home, have kept in contact to either have a catch-up, ask questions or conduct lessons.
On Tuesday our G3/4's celebrated a liturgy via Zoom, and for those at school in the classroom, with Fr Ben and Deacon Chathura.
Masses are celebrated every Sunday at 10am via Facebook livestream. Catholic Parish of Launceston.
Kinder enrolments 2021 are closing soon!
If you are a current St Thomas More's family and you haven't put your Kinder enrolment in, please do so as soon as possible.
Dear Parents / Guardians,
Welcome back to Term 2.
Thank you for your patience in the past weeks whilst an online learning platform was established for the Launceston Catholic Schools Primary Instrumental Music Program.
We are well aware of the difficulty that many of you have experienced in trying to access the site and as a result of this, much work has gone on behind the scenes to establish a format that is easier for all to access.
I have attached a link that is for a video on how to access the St Patrick’s College Schoolbox Music site https://share.vidyard.com/
The Music site can be located by accessing the following link: https://www.stpatricks.tas.
I have attached a screenshot of the login process that you will need to follow.
