With Christmas just around the corner and as we are about to celebrate the birth of Jesus, have we welcomed him into our lives? In reality, Jesus was born over 2000 years and He is alive today and although it is important for us to celebrate the birth of Jesus let us not lose sight that He is already in our midst.
Jesus was born in poverty, not in a palace, but in a manger and Jesus was a refugee, following his birth his family fled to Egypt to avoid the persecution of King Herod. As Jesus began his adult mission he sought the company of the poor, the down trodden and of regular people. He never tried to live the life of a king.
Let us this Christmas take the time to reflect on whose birthday we are really celebrating and ask ourselves, have we welcomed Jesus into our lives. Let us pray for the refugees trying to find a safe haven for their families, let us give to those that are less fortunate to us and let us take the time to be kind to everyone we meet. A simple smile and a “G’day”, can bring joy into someone’s life.
I wish you all a blessed Christmas and encourage you to take the time to celebrate Jesus’s birthday at one of our masses. Merry Christmas.
Shayne Kidd
Dear Families,
As we finish up for another year, I would like to thank you for all the support you have provided us here at St Thomas More’s and I wish you all a Joyous and Blessed Christmas and a safe and fun holiday with your loved ones. On a personal level I would like to thank all our families for the support and friendship you have shown me over the past 4 years, thank you. I am sure this will be extended to our new Principal for 2022, Mr Casimir Douglas.
Next week we farewell our Grade 6 students as they leave us to embark on the next leg of their education journey, High School. It has been great to see you grow and develop into young adults over your time here at St Thomas More’s, we will miss you next year. I wish you all the best with your future endeavours and remember, you are always still part of the St Thomas More’s family.
Yesterday and today, we enjoyed our Kinder Nativity. The children do a fantastic job retelling the Christmas narratives. A great effort by our students and the Kinder Team.
I wish to congratulate our 2022 Captains on your appointments, and I know you’ll all do a great job next year in these roles of leadership. School Captains: Asher Curtis, Milla Johnston, Charlie Hilliard and Reuben Phillips. House Captains: Chisholm, Sara Adams and Floyd Luttrell; Tenison, Olive Saxton and Alex Smart; MacKillop, Zoe Limbrick and Ronan Rae. I would also like to thank all those students who were nominated, you did a great job with your speeches and I believe you all have leadership potential. There will be plenty of opportunities next year if you wish to take them.

Well done to our Boys Basketball team who came 3rd in the State Championships last weekend. This was an awesome effort, and it was great to hear how much you had all improved.
It was great to see so many of our families here last night for our Carols. The children, as always, shone as they performed by traditional and modern carols and their skits. Thank you Mrs Zegveld and Mrs Edwards for organising this event
